Hi everyone! It's been a minute since I wrote a blog post. I wanted to share a quick summary of what's been going on in our lives. This will be pretty brief, but promise at a later date I will go into more detail when the time is right!
At the age of 19 I never really let the idea of infertility cross my mind, but now at 25 it consumes me. We have now been married for 5 years and I'm sure you can imagine the topic of children has come up more than a few times. I think for a long time I lied to myself about when I was ready to start a family. Often when people would ask "When are you guys going to have kids?" I would just play it off and say not anytime soon or I'm not ready. Looking back I wanted a baby then, but not as much as I have the past few years. The truth is, Jordan and I have struggled to start a family for a few years now. We never thought we would struggle as much as we have, but let me tell you it's something that I don't wish on anyone. It's mentally draining, emotionally overtakes your life, and financially giving. I don't think anything can prepare you for so many appointments, medications, questions, and thoughts that constantly circle your mind. Is this going to work? Are we going to drown in debt? Are we ever going to be parents? Are we doing everything we can? Is this what our future holds? How long do we have to go through this? When will it finally be our turn?
We ultimately decided to throw a fundraiser event to help offset some of the costs. We are currently seeing our 2nd doctor and expenses literally just never stop. We had the fundraiser at Belle Oaks Barn where many family and friends came to support us through our infertility journey. We are very blessed to have so many family, friends, and businesses support us through this difficult time. I was TRULY blown away & can't thank everyone enough!
I was nervous having the fundraiser at first, but quickly realized that lots of people go through the same struggles. If any of my family or friends had something like this you bet we would be there. I didn't get as many photos as I planned, but below are a few shots from the fundraiser!
Thank you to all of the businesses, friends, and family for donating raffle items, time and helping put the event on. We couldn't have done this without you! Below are businesses that donated towards raffles :)
